Marco Cipriani Bags Day 1b Chip Lead

Marco Cipriani was the star of Day 1b after bagging 800,000 in chips. This not only was the biggest of the day but it pushes him past Day 1a chip leader Salvatore Dimartino who bagged up 637,000 a couple of days ago.

Day 1b attracted 188 entries to bring the field up to 288 entries in total. A total of 42 players found a bag into Day 2, meaning 61 players have already advanced when taking into account the 19 survivors on Day 1a.

Salvatore Dimartino Leads After Day 1a

The Grand Event kicked off in a “grand” fashion with exactly 100 entries getting into the mix on the first of six opening flights.

Italy’s Salvatore Dimartino was the star of the day after bagging a Day 1a chip-leading stack of 637,000 after 13 blind levels of 50 minutes each. Giovanni Nava (529,000) and Alberto Ricco Galluzzo (518,000) also bagged more than 500,000.

Meanwhile, Rosarie Roberts (374,000), Oyvind Stanges (215,000), and Unibet Poker Ambassador David Lappin (145,000) were also among the players to find a bag on Day 1a. Check out the chip counts of the 19 survivors from Day 1a below:

Welcome to the 2023 Malta Poker Festival (MPF) Autumn Edition at the luxurious surroundings of Portomaso Casino for a week of thrilling poker action.

The highlight of the festival is easily the €500,000 guaranteed MPF €550 Grand Event powered by the Unibet DeepStack Open (UDSO).

While the focus of our coverage will be on the Grand Event, we will provide updates along the way from the side events as well. The coverage will officially kick off with Day 1c but we will provide vital statistics and ending chip counts from the first two opening flights as well.

The Grand Event boasts seven opening flights from October 24-29 with surviving players battling it out for two more days on October 29-30 until the latest winner is crowned.
