Day 1d Begins at 2 p.m.

Welcome back to our coverage of the 2023 Malta Poker Festival Spring Edition €550 Grand Event. Saturday is a big day with the final two opening flights taking place.

First up is Day 1d at 2 p.m. This opening flight will follow the same structure as the first three opening flights with 13 blind levels of 40 minutes each. Players will start with 50,000 in chips and be allowed to enter up to two times per opening flight before the start of Level 9.

Day 1e will kick off in the evening at 9 p.m. This opening flight has a couple of differences. First, it is a turbo-charged affair with 20-minute blind levels. Second, and perhaps more important, is that this flight will play down to 26.8% percent of the remaining field instead of 13 blind levels. This is the average amount of survivors during the first three opening flights.

Marko Luksa still holds the chip lead after bagging a whopping 687,000 in chips on Day 1a. Day 1b chip leader Shaun Halliday advanced with 656,000 while Day 1c leader Maik Buss is currently on the podium in third place with 618,000 in chips.

The Grand Event has already smashed its €300,000 guarantee with 799 entries generating a €383,520 and counting. This is certain to pass 1,000 entries today. Time will tell how big the Grand Event will become.
