More €500K in Grand Event Prize Pool Already

The €550 Grand Event has been rocking on Day 1d with more than 350 entries already to bring the total field up to 1,102 entries for a €528,960 prize pool and growing.

The tables have been 10-handed from the start to accommodate as many players who want to get in during this flight. Not only will the prize pool grow during Day 1d, but there are still two turbo opening flights to go in Day 1e tonight at 9 p.m. and the last chance saloon at 10 a.m. tomorrow morning.

Ladies First! hosted by Kerryjane Craigie is Hopping

The €200 Ladies First! hosted by Kerryjane Craigie had 50 entries to kick things off with more to come with late registration open for 10 blind levels of 25 minutes each.

One table is louder than all of the others put together in Table 7. This table also contains tons of poker talents with the host Craigie joined by Allison Whissell, Tanya Masters, Lydia Cugudda, Rebbecca Scales, Junie Larsen, and Sia Browne.

Karen Arthur, Diane Collins, Caroline Cove, Alessandro Cuntro, Jeanne David, Ilze Zolte, Yvonne McSherry, Alex O’Brien, Avril Preston, Lisa Roberts, Rosarie Roberts, Kelly Saxby, and Ivita Rukmane are also among the players in action.

The ladies appear to be already having fun and we wish them the best of luck in their hunt for the title.

€41,400 Top Prize in the Super High Roller

Late registration closed for the €2,500 Super High Roller. A fresh 18 entries including a first entry by poker author, coach, and The Chip Race podcast cohost Dara O’Kearney and a re-entry by Cory Desmond grew the field to 56 entrants for a €120,960 prize pool.

There were 22 players remaining when the payouts were announced with the top seven at least doubling their buy-in with a min-cash of €5,100. The payouts move up fast from there with tonight’s winner going home with a whopping €41,400 top prize.

There was more than 100,000 in the pot by the time both Danilo Di Mauro and Ingo Yazidi had their stacks committed with Antonis Poulengeris having both players covered on the 724A board after the turn.

Poulengeris was drawing dead to Yazidi’s wheel, while Di Mauro had a live flush draw. The flush draw bricked after the 2 paired the board on the river for Yazidi to win a huge pot while sending Di Mauro to the rail. Interestingly enough, Di Mauro immediately re-entered and randomly received the same seat he left.

Mavin Worner Wins €230 Friday 2 Stack (€5,852)

The €230 Friday 2 Stack raised more than €1,000 for cancer research, a cause near and dear to the event’s host Rolf Arne Bechstrom.

The event attracted 101 entries to create a €19,392 prize pool with the top 13 players locking up at least a €380 min-cash.

While Bechstrom was unable to finish in the money, other MPF veterans found their way to the payout desk including Unibet’s Sebastian Rebhan (fourth – €1,640) and American Lisa Roberts (€1,020).

Collins Makes a “Nice Call” With Cowboys to Double

Ronald Gijtenbeek bet 5,300 into a pot of slightly more with the 10324 on the board after the turn. Christopher Collins jacked it up to 15,000 and Gijtenbeek went into the tank for about a minute before he jammed for about 65,000.

Collins was deep in thought for more than a minute before he eventually tossed in a chip to call off his stack of 40,000.

“Nice call,” Gijtenbeek said to Collins before the cards were tabled.

Anthonioz Chips Up Against Bailey

The prize pool has already grown to €469,920 in the Grand Event for more than 50 percent greater than the advertised €300,000 guarantee. The field is up to 230 entries with four players hitting the rail already with Jacobus Rensink and Inigo Yazidi.

Meanwhile, Samuel Coltman unsuccessfully fired his second bullet into Day 1b while Elliot Anthonioz was busy pulling down a pot against Kenneth Bailey.

Bailey checked the Q284 board on the turn before Anthonioz bet 15,000 into a pot of around 35,000. Bailey tanked for a few moments before he gave up on the hand.
